Fischer Working On Boat

Syd Fischer, who heads the Challenge Australia syndicate, said yesterday his boat was nearing completion.
Fischer said the keel still had to be built, some winches were in transit from the US and the mast was still under construction. "The only major thing left to do is to bond the hull and deck together," he said.
"We'll have it in the water in August. We'll be doing solo sea trials for a month or so and test out crew combinations."
Fischer said he had a core of six crew, including the America's Cup-winning tactician Hugh Treharne, but would eventually have around 22-24. Altogether his staff would number about 30, he said.
The skipper would be announced later.
